The craft
The pavers aren't the hard part.
Anyone can set stone. Walk any street in the GTA and you'll see it — driveways gone wavy, walkways with a lip that catches every toe, patios pitched back toward the house. None of those failed at the surface. They failed underneath, months before the first paver ever went down.
Interlocking is a ground-up build, and the ground is the whole job. Get the excavation, the base and the grading right and the surface will still be dead flat in twenty years. Get them wrong and no pattern, colour or premium paver will save it. That's why our quote starts below the dirt, not at the stone — and why it rarely comes in as the cheapest.
what we build
Four surfaces, one standard.
Driveway, walkway, patio or steps — each carries a different load and drains differently, so each gets a base built for the job. Here's how we help homeowners plan it.
Driveways
The one that carries a car and takes the worst of the salt and plows. Gets the deepest base and the toughest pavers we install — and the one where a cheap base fails fastest.
Walkways & Patios
Front walks, backyard patios and pool decks. Where design does the most work — pattern, border, colour and stone choice turn plain square footage into the part of the yard you actually use.
Steps & Retaining Walls
Steps, porches and walls that hold a grade in place. The heavier the structure, the more the base matters — which is why we build steps of two or more risers on a proper footing, not loose gravel.
The base
Every failure you've seen started here.
Wavy driveways, sunken patios, a walkway that grew a lip — they all trace to the same shortcut: not enough base, not compacted, not drained. It's the part that's buried and invisible the day the job finishes, which is exactly why it's the part the low bid cuts.
We build it in lifts. Excavate to depth, lay geotextile over the subgrade so the base can't sink into it, then compact granular in layers rather than dumping it and hoping. Bedding sand screeded flat, pavers set, edges restrained, and polymeric sand locking the joints so nothing shifts and nothing grows through. Boring to look at. Impossible to fake. And the entire reason ours stays flat.
How We Build It
From subgrade to final sweep.
Design & Locates
We measure, run levels on your grade, design the layout and book utility locates before we break ground.
Excavate & Base
Dig to depth, lay geotextile and compact granular base in lifts — the part that decides everything.
Lay & Cut
Bedding sand screeded, pavers set to pattern, borders and curves cut clean and tight.
Lock & Walkthrough
Edge restraints, polymeric sand, a final compaction and cleanup — with our written guarantee.
WHY ACORN
We quote the base, not just the stone.
One accountable crew
The person who quotes your project runs the crew that builds it. No middlemen, no finger-pointing.
Built from the ground up
